International students

The future admission of international students from many different countries into ANIBT will provide cultural diversity, an excellent preparation for all students in the global environment.

Attendance

ANIBT has the expectation that your attendance will be 100%, except in the case of illness that must be verified by an original medical certificate. International students are required by Australian government regulations to be in attendance in a full time course for a minimum of 20 contact hours per week and not less than 36 weeks in an academic year. A student’s attendance is considered unsatisfactory by DIAC if it is below 80% of the hours of delivery in a semester, regardless of the reasons including illness. Should your attendance be unsatisfactory, including absences due to illness, ANIBT must report this to DIAC and advise you to attend an interview at DIAC within 28 days of the report being sent to DIAC and to your address. Your student visa may be cancelled as a result of this interview.

Download the ANIBT Attendance Monitoring Policy.

Academic performance

ANIBT must report unsatisfactory academic performance to DIAC. You will be required to attend an interview at DIAC within 28 days and your visa may be cancelled as a result.

Student well-being

The welfare of students is of paramount importance to ANIBT. A strong feature of ANIBT is its relatively small size and the benefits that flow from students and teachers working within a relatively small teaching and learning community. This means that the task of building connectedness to the school, to staff and to other students is much easier than would be the case in a larger college. However, whilst ANIBT recognises that a small size enhances possibilities for building a harmonious and friendly learning environment, it also recognises the need to implement programs and strategies to ensure that the benefits of this close-knit environment are capitalised upon.

The student welfare support program and strategies consists of the following elements:

  • The Director of Education (G.M.) and Student Services is responsible for overseeing welfare initiatives and concerns and will refer students to relevant professionals when necessary;
  • Each teacher is responsible for the study and welfare needs of students;
  • The ANIBT Director of Studies, Heads of Department, teachers and the Director of Education and Student Services provide:
    • Counselling as required;
    • Peer support mechanisms;
  • Students will be interviewed before commencement, to determine the best educational program for their individual needs;
  • Linkages have been built with external welfare support agencies and ANIBT has access to community support services.

Further support

ANIBT provides quality support to students in the form of:

  • Guidance in selecting an appropriate course;
  • Placement assistance.
